Interim Maintenance Manager (6 months)

LyondellBasell is a leader in the global chemical industry creating solutions for everyday sustainable living of which our Geleen site (known locally as QCP) is a part. Site Geleen is a dynamic organization founded in 2014 by 3 entrepreneurs with a conviction to do things differently when it comes to recycling: replacing polymers produced from oil or gas on a large scale. They saw a wonderful opportunity to process plastic waste sustainably by developing the same quality as classic polymers. Today, our plant is a thriving organization of +/- 70 employees.

The main goal of the job is: To manage safe and efficient maintenance of the recycling plant in order to optimize the
availability of the technical installations, as owner of the department objectives. In this role you report to the Site Manager. Your direct reports are two Maintenance Leaders, a Warehouse Keeper and a Project Engineer WTB.

Responsibilities and tasks

Maintenance operations

  • Manage plant maintenance without safety incidents;
  • Manage plant maintenance in compliance with permits, legislation, QMS and DOA/POA;
  • Lead the team of maintenance employees;
  • Secure the availability of the technical installations by minimizing unscheduled stops;
  • In case of breakdown, minimize the impact on the production department by arranging the resources needed to put the installations back in service;
  • Schedule required production stops, in close cooperation with Operations Manager and Supply Chain;
  • Execute preventive maintenance planning by securing sufficient resources, such as personnel, contractors and spare parts;
  • Responsible for spare parts management to meet availability objectives

Plant optimisation

  • Actively shifting the balance from corrective to preventive maintenance;
  • Develop, improve and execute the preventive maintenance plan;
  • Continuous development about the use of CMMS;
  • Evaluate technical events and issues and execute or recommend improvements;
  • Maintenance cost control;
  • Structuring maintenance processes;
  • Give input in supplier evaluation.

Personnel management

  • Support and coach the Maintenance Leaders in developing their teams;
  • Take an active role in the hiring process;
  • Take an active role in employee education, such as e-learning modules;
  • Take an active role in reducing and follow up of absenteeism;
  • Yearly Personnel evaluation and follow up;
  • Recommend and advise in matters of sanctions, rewards and promotions;
  • Provide conditions for a good working atmosphere.

Responsibility for quality, environment, safety and health regarding Maintenance overall

  • Respect and ensure that the instructions on quality, environment, safety and health environment are respected.
  • Monitorthe correct application of procedures;
  • Take the necessary actions when an emergency situation arises so as to avoid any human and environmental damage, any nuisance to residents;
  • Make Maintenance staff aware of quality, environment, safety and health issues;
  • Ensure that the facilities for a good work environment are maintained;
  • Inform all Maintenance employees of the relevant risks and safety instructions;
  • Report any safety issue to the internal safety department.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor level education or by experience gathered knowledge of Maintenance Management,
    Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering;
  • Experience in a Maintenance environment;
  • Experience in a leadership role in a maintenance/production/technical environment;
  • In possession of a VCA VOL certificate;
  • Experience in CMMS: implementation and maintaining, report generating;
  • Sufficient experience with MS Office applications;
  • Good knowledge of the Dutch and English language in speech and writing, also German in speech.
